A lot of people are listening to podcasts these days, and anyone can make or start one. A potential alternative assessment is providing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge through a verbal assessment rather than a written assessment. This article in the NY Times, Project Audio: Teaching Students How to Produce Their Own Podcasts, shares tips on getting started if you want to help students create their own podcast as an assessment.
WWU’s Student Tech Center (STC) has created a self-enroll Canvas course to teach students about different technologies. One of the modules in their online course is about Audacity, which is a simple app that can be used to record and produce podcasts.
