If you are looking for a safe, inclusive, and free virtual space to create classroom groups and discussions, Flip is the tool for you!
Flip is a short video-capture technology that is easy to use and will allow students and yourself to view each other’s short videos and allow people to see and hear from their classmates. This can help you establish your presence as an instructor and can be a great instructional technology for courses being taught synchronously or asynchronously. Students can comment on each others videos and customize their own video using different filters, emojis, and frames. Flip provides a library of videos to choose from as a backdrop. Additionally, smart stickers are available and are selected based on credible contextual information about videos.
Flip can also be used as a more casual feedback tool. For classes that have assessments outside of traditional tests and quizzes, Flip allows for students to talk about their ideas and receive feedback from other students. In Create Mode, students can choose between using the video mode or Flip Camera which includes effects that are easy to find and use. Now, Flip includes an ASL Learning Lens which can teach basics of ASL by tracking hand movements. Lastly, Flip is also available in Spanish on the mobile app.
You can also use Flip to deliver really short clips of content if you desire or you can make Mixtapes that combine student videos into something similar to a YouTube playlist.
