Feedback and Reactions in Zoom

by Justina | Sep 29, 2020 | Assessment, Formative Assessment, Zoom

Contributed to the TLCo-op by Alina Holmes, Graduate Research Assistant of the Center for Instructional Innovation and Assessment, 2020.

Zoom has a few different feedback options, that allow you to get immediate feedback from students, that are called “reactions” and non-verbal feedback. The reactions tab includes six different emoticons such as: thumbs up, clapping, wow, crying, and party. The non-verbal feedback includes thumbs up, thumbs down, go slower, go faster, coffee break, and a few more. Click this link to enable non-verbal feedback in Zoom through the participants tab. To use reactions, you should not have to enable anything in the Zoom settings. However, depending on if students are using Zoom in the web browser or the Zoom app, they might have the number of reactions limited to the thumbs up and clapping emojis.
